Delicious French Toast

French Toast

Is French Toast Really French?

French toast isn’t actually from France. Legend has it that a man named Joseph French from the U.S. created the sweet breakfast dish in 1724 and named it after himself. However, that’s probably not true: People were frying milk- and egg-soaked bread in Ancient Rome, according to early recipes.

It’s more likely that modern French toast was invented by 15th-century cooks who were on a mission to use up stale bread.

How to Make French Toast

You just need a skillet, a few staple ingredients, and a good recipe.

There are many ways to make French toast, but here is simple one:

  1. Prepare the ingredients: prepare a slice of thickly sliced toast, an egg, appropriate amount of milk, butter, honey;
  2. To make the egg mixture: Crack the eggs into a bowl, add an appropriate amount of milk and honey, and stir well;
  3. Soak the toast: Put the toast into the egg mixture, let it soak fully on both sides, and the soaking time is preferably more than 10 minutes;
  4. Fry the toast: Add an appropriate amount of butter to a frying pan, heat over low heat until the butter melts, put the soaked toast into the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides;
  5. Serve on a plate: Take out the fried French toast, cut it into small pieces or not, and sprinkle some powdered sugar or serve with fruit according to your personal taste.

You can adjust the recipe to suit your personal tastes and preferences.
